The Open Table is for the zinesters who want to bring their zines to share and sell at zinefest, but don’t need or want a full table. You don’t need to register anything- just bring your zines, leave then with us for the day, tell us how much you’re selling them for, and how many copies you have. At the end of the day, you come and collect any money or zines remaining. Voila!

Voila!

NICHT VERGESSEN: SAMSTAG NACHT ZEITUMSTELLUNG! (+1 stunde)

DON’T FORGET: DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME ENDS SATURDAY NIGHT (1 hour +)

SATURDAY/SAMSTAG:

IOTA ART (martin):
sat 13.30-15.30
english
room 2

In this workshop we will look into the entrancing, ancient-old skill of iota art. Use it as a meditation tool, stress release, nerdy handicraft and colorful calculation! Since long used in the Coptic monasteries as a method of prayer and to ornament holy scriptures, it caught the attention of a then-20-year old Swede artist who lived among the Copts in Anafora, Egypt. Most iota workshops you’ll find (they are truly rare) will focus on spiritual meaning in coloring in the pre-printed iota constructions, but at the Zine Fest it’s different! This –actually unique– workshop will show you how the strictly logical patterns are constructed and what can be created.
It’s all about graph paper, pencils and erasers, which will be provided.

ZINE ON DEMAND-Workshop (Lina Pulp, Reklamiertes Kapital)
sat. 14.30-18.30
deutsch, english, español
room 1 / craft room / everywhere

Following the old tradition of literary stage O-Ton Ute in Berlin’s late 1990s at Schokoladen, POETRY ON DEMAND, we will transpose the tradition to Kreuzberg, 21st century and drawing on demand.
This workshop will be a group sale of developing a quick sales issue of a Zine vor Ort, right there, fresh from the premises! We will meet and hand out paper, pens or whatever to then mingle with the crowd to work in two approaches. A) Drawing on demand: people can ask for drawings that will then become part of the ZineFestondemandZine. B) Drawing around: we will draw what we see for a limited time (possibly following a list of items we spot before to further limit ourselves to access new paths of drawing and texting). After two hours, we will meet up again to see what we have, take five seconds for selection, head to the copyshop, copy the day on demand and distribute the fresh Zine on Demand on Sunday at the festival. You don’t need to say that you cannot draw or write, I don’t belief in this concept. If you want to come and play, please do! We can speak English, German, Spanish or whataver you want. These are my languages, but we also have others ways to communicate, right? It would be great if you can bring pens, pencils, ink, paint, scissors…whatever you like or hate to draw with, something you always or never wanted to try to use.

Saturday, 14h30-18h30/open end. Please come at the beginning so we can see how many we are and who will be in group A or B.

Samstag 14h30-18h30/open end. Bitte kommt aber zu Beginn pünktlich, damit wir wissen, wer in welcher Gruppe sein will und uns verabreden können um das Zine On Demand zusammenzulegen.

“Vom Ghetto in die Wälder – Jüdischer
Widerstand gegen Nationalsozialismus und deutsche Besatzung” (trans*geniale f_antifa)
sat. 16.30-17.30
deutsch, english
room 3

(deutsch)

From the ghetto into the forests – Jewish resistance against national
socialism and german occupation

In the workshop we want to give an overview about Jewish resistance against national socialism and german occupation. We will especially talk about places in present Poland and Lithuania, because most of the ghettos and extermination camps were located there. We want to tell you something about the struggles in the ghettos of Vilnius, Białystok and Warsaw and remember the uprising in the extermination camp Sobibór. We will also say something about the partisan fights in the forests. We will complete our talk with short film clips and partisan songs. The workshop will also be interactive so there will be space for interchange among the participants. Afterwards we’ve got time for discussion. The talk will be in german spoken language. We try to have a translation into english. The workshop will take 60 to 90 minutes.

SUNDAY/SONNTAG:

Jam Comics (foxitalic)
sun. 14-15.30
deutsch, english
room 1 / craft room

In this workshop we want to write and draw stories together – in comis, using narrating pictures and text. You don’t have to bring your own stories to the workshop, we’ll invent them together by passing our sheets. We’ll just communicate using drawing and writing. No previous experience necessary, just come and join if you’re in the mood for paper, pens and people!

Copyright Copyleft (jan)
sun. 14-15
room 3

Diskussion: “Let´s talk about … Girl Zines! (ursi)
sun. 14.30 – 16
deutsch
room 2

Discussion: Positivism as the new stance. (Will, Kevin)
Sun. 15:30 to 16:30
English
Room 3

The two editors of ÜBERGANG magazine discuss with an open lecture topics from their debut issue on Kottbusser Tor.
How can we tell each other stories that consider our generation needs? How do we create a positive relationship with the diversity and freedom of sexuality and culture without being sensationalist? How should we engage with the post-ironic present?

From the manifesto:
“Activism instead of escapism.
Utopia instead of nostalgia.
Transition instead a standstill.”

In this workshop, we will fold! We will explore the manifold possibilities of modular origami creating three-dimensional stars and curved surfaces out of regular notepad paper without any glue or scissors. Whether we want to explore mathematical backgrounds or just craft some models is all up to the audience. You don’t have to bring paper, but as some models involve lots of folding, it is recommended to work in groups.

Self-publishing: a historical overview on Samizdat (eleonora)
sun. 16.30-17.30
english
room 2

Our hour together will focus on the notion of Samizdat, a dissident activity of cultural self-publishing that spread across the entire Soviet Bloc during the Cold War. We will learn why Samizdat was felt like an essential urgency and how it was possible to illegally create and to let circulate that magazines. We will go through some historical examples (mainly from Poland) and we will then finish with a contemporary leading question: thanks or because of the Internet, are we nowadays living inside a censored society?
